| Catrake Ltd., trading as Yorkshire Dampcourse and Wall Ties (YDC), was formed in 1991 from a family damp proofing business started in 1974.
Apart from structural waterproofing systems for basements and other below ground applications, we also offer injected damp proof courses, specialist rendering after damp proofing, timber replacement and treatment for wet and dry rot control and wood boring beetles, as well as wall tie installation and other structural stabilisation. We also provide solutions for both penetrating dampness and condensation problems. We hold membership of the Property Care Association and its affiliate The Structural Water Proofing Group, and the Association of Accredited Wykamol Users. YDC is also TrustMark approved. Membership of all of the above requires regular vetting of us by those organisations, to ensure our suitability and expertise. Our property inspections are carried out by three trained and qualified inspectors, who prepare concise and accurate reports. Our work is supervised by the original inspector and also the director/owner of the company, who is also one of the inspectors. Work is carried out by our own employed staff of 8 skilled technicians, from a fleet of 5 vans. The work we do is split roughly 60:40 between domestic and commercial properties. So we have a wide customer base that includes private domestic house owners, landlords, builders, local authorities, housing associations and lettings and estate management agents, amongst others. The work we do is, on the whole, backed by our own company 20 year guarantees, (10 years for structural water proofing|), which can be backed up by Guarantee Protection Insurance (GPI) policies. Because these are so popular, YDC is registered as an Approved Representative of GPI and so both the company and it’s director must be approved by the Financial Services Authority, who regulates the financial services market. Our areas of operation are essentially North, South and West Yorkshire, serviced from our office and warehouse in North West Leeds. Office hours are from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday.
